Mirror on mantelpiece

I want to set a large mirror on the mantelpiece on top of our fireplace. Worry is that it might slip off though...any suggestions for a rubber mat to stop it slipping or way to secure it?

Couldn't you secure it to the wall?

You will definitely need to secure it to the wall

Do secure it to the wall in some way, if it fell on someone it'd be awful!

You need some concealed mirror fixings; there are various sorts depending on your mirror.

Carefully dusting around it will be a pain too (especially if its a real fire!) so fixing it is definitely safer.

Slight side note, if it is a real fire bear in mind people leaning in towards the mirror & catching clothing.

Not a real fire and definitely will be fixing to wall at top. Thanks for tip on concealed fixings...wasn't sure if it would need to be hung and want it to look like it's sitting on the mantelpiece.

Thanks!
