I’ve got a big vase doing nothing. What do I fill it with?.

Do I put a big candle in it or fill it with something?. I don’t like faux flowers so that’s out.

Grow some honesty, it’s brilliant as dried seed heads in the house.

A big candle or I know you don't like faux flowers but have you looked at dried flowers. Seems to be on trend right now.

Dried flowers are lovely

Sheepareawesome · 22/11/2020 16:36

Big enough to put wine bottles in? Or a tasteful selection of Toblerones maybe? They come in a range of colours now so there is bound to be one that matches your decor.

Pussy willow stems - they last for ages.

fruitpastille · 23/11/2020 21:07

I've put some pussy willow in one of my vases recently (leftover from a bouquet I was given). I really like it and even dh commented that it was nice!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/11/2020 21:18

I bought some back in July and it's still going strong!

Wildwood6 · 14/12/2020 17:51

Pussy willow stems or a bunch of eucalyptus, they both last absolutely ages in a vase.

ExpensivelyDecorated · 14/12/2020 17:54

Yes, pussy willow, I've had mine since around the first lockdown and it's still perfect. Got some white battery fairy lights on it too now.

Zinnia · 14/12/2020 21:16

I've got some beautiful paper flowers in one big vase and a load of fairy lights in another. The lights are particularly nice right now.

Baubles and have a think again in the new year

Pine cones in the autumn twigs of its eggs hanging off at Easter cut flowers summer then back to pine cones?

Dried flowers are my obsession at the moment.

I’ve dried my own hydrangeas (from the garden), baby’s breath (from Morrison’s) both worked really well. Managed to get my hands on some honesty too and will look to grow my own.

bluejelly · 23/12/2020 11:39

I'm so impressed that you dried your own hydrangeas. Was it difficult? Might try it next year

HollowTalk · 23/12/2020 11:40

Can we see the vase?

AdaColeman · 23/12/2020 11:55

Another vote for filling it with Christmas tree baubles.

impressivelycunty · 23/12/2020 11:58

Battery lit lights look nice in a big glass vase or fresh twigs of red berries and ivy?

curiouscat1987 · 05/01/2021 21:01

Ive got a glass vase with a bunch of twisty twigs in which i love! I stick baubles on them at xmas and decorative hanging hearts in all different styles thecrest of the year

I’ve got twisted willow and pussy willow in mine, with a couple of handfuls of fish tank stones at the bottom!😁
