Could I paint this unit on the top?

I'm struggling to find a tv unit I can get before January
I found a gorgeous one on Made.com but it wasn't going to get delivered until Han 21st!
I want grey or blue or white but not with a wooden top as the fireplace is wood and unless they match it would look odd. So I found this one and wondered if I could paint the top - is that mad?

Not mad at all. Just don't rush it, prep and give it enough time to dry.

Nothing on Wayfair that fits our alcove. I'm not worried about painting it and it might look ok as is but DH is fretting It seems to be the style to have a wooden top and colour base.
