I am hoping to redecorate our bedroom in a Victorian terrace, and I really dislike 'modern' styles. I am looking for classic understated furniture that you might find in Green Gables! Attached (I hope) is a picture of the kind of bed I like (although I'm hoping for a darker wood). All the furniture stores seem to have is light wood, or padded headboard, or chunky oak. What I'd like is a four-poster, but not with tall posts, iyswim. Does anyone have any recommendations? My husband wants to go with Taurus beds because they are good quality but I just think they look too modern! Ideally the shop would also sell bedside tables, etc.
