How do I cover this door to give privacy?

Hello,
I have new neighbours and he likes to stand in his upstairs bedroom and peer into my utility room. It's a straight line of vision, as I found out this morning when I was loading the washing machine without a top on. I've had a mastectomy for breast cancer and have never shown anyone it as I'm still anxious about it ; my neighbour had a clear view of the scar and I'm now really worried about going in the room.

I cannot see because chemo has meant I can't feel my fingertips so I can't adjust a net curtain to only fit the top.

My house is very modern and I really am not keen on a door curtain or door net curtain.

I thought about just sticking up some white card with blue tac for now but it'll look rubbish.

I was thinking of somehow Velcro-ing a voile panel to the top window part only. But they don't come in the size I need (62 x 106cm) and I can't adjust it as I cannot sew. And how would I stick the four corners of the material to the four corners of the upvc door?

Ideas very welcome. Thank you

Window film. Really easy to apply. I have it in my living room.

gawpingneighbour · 14/11/2020 17:06

*I cannot SEW ; I can see perfectly well !

what about those platic films you stick on glass to make it not transparent? They are easy to fit

gawpingneighbour · 14/11/2020 17:08

@LST I knew someone on here would have the answer! Window film looks perfect. Thank you very much

Do you think it's possible to buy some that says "sod off you wierdo " on the back of it? Smile

Another vote for window film, it gives the effect of patterned glass, such as you might have in a bathroom.

Yes, you can definitely have it custom made! 😂 People buy it for their shop windows with their business name on.

Google "Frosted Window film with writing". Brings up lots of places that will personalise it for you.

Svelteinmydreams · 14/11/2020 17:20

Just came on to say that I am sorry you are having to deal with this nosey neighbour, especially when you are feel vulnerable after your mastectomy. He sounds like a real creep. 💐

SlippersForFlippers · 14/11/2020 17:24

Window film would work, you can get the one where it lets you see out but doesn't let them see in.

A more expensive option would be perfect fit blinds, the fit a frame to the window frame with blinds in side.

BluebellsGreenbells · 14/11/2020 17:25

They do it in spray form as well

If you get the film wet the window with water and a bit of washing up liquid so it slides into place and the bubbles come out

InTheKitchenAtParties · 14/11/2020 17:30

Stick on blinds from IKEA, they are called 'schottis'. Cheap as and easy to cut and stick.
Unfortunately Ikea is temporarily closed, unless you don't mind paying the ridiculous delivery charge.

gawpingneighbour · 14/11/2020 17:31

One way window film looks just the job.

He is a reclusive wierdo, gets his mummy and daddy to come over and do every tiny little thing for him. (He's about 35) . I've never actually seen him face to face. But I know he's in there and I caught him staring at me earlier.

Damn. The one way mirror stuff only works in the daytime; at night he'll be able to see straight in.

Get in touch with local sign making company and ask them to come and put frosted vinyl on the door, we did this with our front door and had the number cut into it, cost virtually nothing and done professionally.

LintonTravelTavern · 14/11/2020 18:21

These might be o.k, I have them on my patio doors & 1 lounge window.

Do you use that door, for now I would hang a sheet up and tape it down with white gorilla tape. Is there a wall on the right hand side, you can buy extendable curtain rails from wilko which act by suction and put up a door curtain.

Yeah, and this guy's struggles include how best to perve over the OP through her windows.
