Are sheer curtains outdated?

Otherwise known as net curtains Grin

We live in a ground floor flat with very large windows. I have gorgeous thick curtains but obviously these are only shut in the evening. I would LOVE wooden blinds but can’t afford them yet. We had bamboo blinds for a while but after problems with condensation, they’ve gone mouldy. Condensation issue is sorted now and I need a cheap solution to stop people looking in our front room as they walk by. I don’t really want to spend much on a temporary-ish solution until o save up for blinds and have noticed some of the flats in our area have sheer curtains instead of blinds - these flats are rented by younger people (younger than me anyway Grin) so I was thinking of doing the same. But I can’t help but think they’re super outdated, because they definitely were when I was growing up in the 90’s!

I don’t think so, maybe not so much of a net material and more of a voile material, it looks a lot more dainty than tacky. 😊
