I'm not sure if this is a daft question...

Do you buy your duvet larger than your actually bed size? My bed is a standard double. Looking for new bedding and everything looks very big on the beds when I'm looking online. Is this quite standard, to buy the size up? I don't share with a duvet-hogger, so only wondering from an aesthetic point of view!

Using a king duvet on our double bed has been an absolute life changer!

Sorry - posted too soon.

  • But that's from a duvet hogger's perspective! Aesthetically I much prefer it with a bigger duvet too. It just generally feels more luxurious.

Super king quilt for our king size bed and for the spare bedrooms, kings on the doubles. Much better.

Double bed
King size duvet

Buy quilt cover and 2 matching pillowcases, then matching double sheet and 2 further pillowcases .

Still don't get a lot of duvet Hmm

We have king duvet on double bed but I'm very large and cold so like plenty of blanket!

On spare room we have s double bed but king sized duvet and covers.

Many years ago the duvet cover I loved was only available in super king, so I got it and bought a new duvet too. My bed is a standard double! But I love all the extra duvet for tucking around me, plus enough to avoid the weird 'air gap' between partners, and it looks very luxurious hanging down the sides when made.

Bigger looks better, but I always get hot in bed and like to stick my leg out of the side, so we just have a double on our double!
