Lined curtains - where to buy

Hi all,

I'm after new living room curtains after a redecorate.

Where is a good place to start for good quality lined curtains? I've looked at Next, Dunelm, M&S, John Lewis.

Also, a made to measure possibility would be good as they'll be a non stand length although I could buy longer ones and hem them.

Thanks.

Boundary Mills, if there is one in your area
I have curtains from Dunelm and M and S as well

We've got them from John Lewis and next ready made, and made to measure from Britannia rose. The made to measure are much better quality... thicker lining, properly blackout etc compared to the ready made ones, although of course a lot more expensive.

Thanks both. I've never heard of Boundary Rose and Britannia Mills. I'll have a look.

BR is online, but you can get samples of the fabrics sent before you choose.

I'm looking. For lounge curtains. Had success with Dunelm, for bedroom curtains. But just can't find right thing for lounge.

I also have Dunelm curtains and am very pleased with them

Ready made are always cheaper than made to measure.

We've had Dunelm (ok but thin), Laura Ashley (more expensive but thicker) plus custom made.

Also, if your windows are non standard size (ready made seem to come in just a few size brackets) I would buy too long and shorten. There is a tiny hem on bought curtains and a strong crease that won't iron out.

If you can find the right width and fabric you want then a local curtain makers can take them up for you, otherwise find some fabric and get someone to make them, the majority of the cost is in the fabric you choose

I’ve had ready mades from ‘curtains, curtains, curtains’ who will also professionally shorten and they did a fab job. I also had made to measure from them too and again they did a great job.
For the lounge they didn’t stock my fabric so I went to ‘curtains made for free’ who also did a great job. I’ve had numerous blinds, box seats and cushions made by them and are great. Highly recommend both companies.

Thanks all, I've got a few places to check out.

I've used Britannia Rose for a blind, which was very well done and a good price. Good quality worksmanship too.

I'm in the process of having lots of curtains and blinds done for living room (1 massive window, 1 more normal sized window and French windows), and have found a local place that makes curtains, they're also supplying the fabric. Overall, the price isn't dissimilar to Britannia Rose, but the independents have come and measured up and will fully fit too. Plus it's nice to give business to 2 lovely local women!

Dunelm often have a sale after Xmas - pay for the fabric and they make them for free.....
