Looking for simple tips/inspiration on how I can brighten my home in November please?

Things are feeling a bit sad in the gap between Halloween and Christmas!

Fairy lights!

I’ve put some up as a garland on the staircase and they make me so happy every time I walk past. Just adds that welcome cheer on dark evenings.

Also plenty of candles. I put tea lights into my little ceramic houses and it adds so much hygge factor. Again it feels wintery rather than Christmassy, so perfectly legitimate imo!

Thanks @Ninkanink I've put some fairy lights in a glass vase in the hall last week and you're right, it really brightens the place up. Creates a lovely warm atmosphere.

Will be enlisting help from the kids to make an autumn leaf collage for the playroom window next week too. Smile

Also come join us on the Christmas poncing thread (‘Poncetastic 2020’) — it’s not Christmas yet but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy lots of planning and prep to bring some extra cheer to November!🎄🎄🎄

Collect leaves.
Get a bowl, cover it in cling film. Layer leaves over the bowl, sticking them with pva glue.
Leave to dry.
Peel cling film and leaves off the bowl, in one sheet. Ta da! You have a bowl made out of autumn leaves.
Utterly useless and doesn’t last forever... but quite a fun job, very cheap to do.

Get a coloured lightbulb for a table lamp in the living room. It's an instant mood lifter, especially a pink lightbulb.

Himalayan salt lamps are gorgeous! I have several throughout my home and they are on 24/7. I love the soft warm glow they give off at night when the house is dark.

Are they safe to leave on 24/7?

Are they safe to leave on 24/7?

Yes, totally. They are natural salt and the bulb is very low wattage. No heat at all.

Sounds good. Any that you recommend?
