Has anybody moved their stairs? Cost?

I really need to move my main staircase because it's in an awkward place. Has anybody done this? Any recommendations or advice re cost?

I like simple staircases. I'm thinking wooden treds and a simple metal, minimal frame.

I’ve not done it, but I know it’s expensive. I am guessing, but would say £2k upwards. A softwood preassembled staircase would probably be cheaper than wood treads and metal. I’ve just bought the components to replace my small upstairs landing spindles and rails, plus handrail on stairs and that has cost almost £1k before fitting. You would also need to factor in replastering/making good walls where original staircase was

I'd need to know where it's moving to and if that can be done before giving a guestimate........what room will you lose by moving?

We paid 14k approximately 10 years ago. But we replaced a bog standard staircase with a custom made stair starting in another room.

It was worth it for us as it totally transformed our home and living.

It depends entirely where you’re moving it from and to. Do you need to reinforce the areas? Are there structural walls where you’re moving it from/to? Any doors need moving? Etc etc.
