recommend sheepskin cushions for dining chairs

Have been looking for a while but can't find any nice sheepskin (or faux sheepskin) type cushions for my wooden dining chairs. I did buy some but took them back as they were just thin pads and felt too hard. Not sure what to do....I can't afford to pay £35 each cushion either which is what a lot seem to be....as I have 8 chairs!

I have a couple of sheepskin throws which i just chuck over the back. I think it works better.

Don’t do it!
We’ve tried a few times with rugs and small ones over chairs and in pet beds.

You can’t keep them clean imo.
The amount of dust and grit that gets trapped inside them (with regular vacuuming and slicker brushing I might add!) is both shocking and revolting.

They aren’t usually machine washable as the agitation felts the wool and despite being marketed as easy clean I have found them anything but if they get stained!

They also squash down and get a flat appearance

I tried for years to find some and gave up in the end and bought new chairs that didn't need seat pads but obviously since I did that they seem to have become more popular! I'll see if I can find some of the one's I've seen recently!

BrandAlley is selling sheepskin cushions at the mo. Just saw them tonight.

I've just seen some Etsy that looked really nice!

I have some amazing ones from Cox and Cox but they were £45 each. Have had so many compliments about them. If you are crafty I think you could get seat pads and cover them with faux sheepskin. I saw something similar for making a stool for a dressing table and they just stapled the sheepskin into a seat pad.

Butterry I've watched that video too! Smile

I have a wooden bench with a sheepskin rug thrown over it and I think I'm going to give it a go!

Are yours washable @butterry please?

butterry · 08/11/2020 13:07

@notdonna I have hand washed only not in a machine and I use a wire brush to keep them fluffy

Ikea do some fake sheepskin rugs for £7 each. Not hugely fluffy but our cats love them on the cat bed corner dining bench and they wash well.
