Splashback ideas please for a very plain white room

Our building work was done a year ago but I still have no splashback in the utility as I can’t make a decision!

The room is small and windowless with a galley run of cabinets on one wall. Cabinets are matt white handleless and worktop is matt white too. Walls are white. Floor is oak plank look tiles. All very plain and minimal (other than the laundry and other mess that lives there)

I was going to go with a small white mosaic of some sort, penny tiles maybe, which would be unobtrusive but lend a bit of texture. But then I wonder am I missing the opportunity to do something bold? Green maybe? Geometric? Encaustic? Zellige?

What would you do...?

I know it isn't to everyone's (or even anyone's) taste, but I would go turquoise or emerald green.

Paint the wall from the worktop up, to a point above, where a glass splash back would stop. I dont know the sizes you can get.

Thats all Smile

Granite tiles are not too expensive. I bought a few for a splashback years ago from Tops Tiles.

How about some Moroccan type tiles? Tops Tiles do a line called Oparo with gold design on them. I quite like oparo diamond and oparo petal if you want to keep it understated or go for a dramatic look with a mix of black tiles.

We bought these for our kitchen cooker splashback. They weren't cheap but I absolutely love them!

Pale pink?

Ooh ooh replies! Thank you all.

I love the idea of emerald green. Really love it. But it would be the only bold colour in a room full of white and pale wood.... Will it look odd?

Pale pink would be very pretty and I’ve seen some lovely blush pink mosaic tiles, but not sure it would go with an oak coloured floor (which is kinda tan colour) ? Red has the same issue

Wow to those peacock iridescent tiles! amazing. I did want mother of pearl tiles there until I saw the cost. and remembered it’s a utility room 😁. I’m not sure I could go multi coloured but think something sheeny and a bit luxe would be good so will have a look at similar ideas.

Moroccan tiles, I have looked at and there are several I love but somehow they all look too rustic in the very modern room with the handleless cabinets etc. Having said that I have seen rustic tiles with modern cabinets on pinterest and it works...

No to granite but maybe slate ... we have honed slate tiles elsewhere and they are lovely...

I suppose I’m trying to find something that is a bit more fun and bold than plain white, but also goes well with the very plain room 😆 maybe impossible !!

Whst about terrazzo? Mandarin Stone have some lovely porcelain terrazzo tiles. I have the Nouveau Lemon matt ones.

I have bright green and looks incredible (not biased at all).

Why not a glass splash back? Any colour you like.. when you're fed up with it just unscrew it and change it.

I've got the green glass. The Spanish grey is nice too.
