Radiator covers

Anyone know where I can find a shallow radiator cover? We want one for our (quite narrow) hallway but the ones we've seen at places like B&Q would stick too far out and make the passage even narrower. Any ideas?

Do you want it to specifically hide the radiator? Cos I've just been looking at console tables which people sometimes put with radiators. I can't decide whether that just draws attention to it or not though!

Yes we'd ideally like to hide it...it's quite long and it'd be nice to cover it up with something prettier! Just can't find one that doesn't jut out too far

I'm in the same boat as you! This is what I want but can't find it anywhere!

You could get one made or adapt an off the shelf one

justaweeone · 21/10/2020 09:01

You can design one to your measurements

I think that one has just had a slice off a bought one

I’m sure a carpenter could trim down the back of any one you bought

We had our hall radiator made to measure by a company in Liverpool . Maybe someone in your area can give the same service . Google is your friend . Oh , and it wasn't expensive , approximately £140 for quite a long radiator .
You can now get pretty glass ones with pictures on them too . I don't think they are as bulky as wood . Good look in your search

How deep do you want it, I got ours from eBay think it was only 19cm deep and didn't encroach on the space too much. I just sanded the top ledge to round off the corners and gave it a lick of paint, turned out really well.

Thank you all so much for these tips! Smile

Does having a radiator cover impact the amount of heating coming out of the radiators. Would love to get a radiator cover but feel the hallway would be cold with one?

BillywigSting · 23/10/2020 23:38

I have one in my hall and it hasn't made a noticeable difference to the heat, but a huge difference to how the how the hall looks. We do only have a very small hall though.

I'm looking for ones to go over our very long radiator upstairs, almost 2m wide and can't find any long enough.

Still waiting for my carpenter aka FIL to build me my radiator covers. He started a new project, the cheek Wink
