Crochet Rug Safe in Nursery? Okay Under Furniture?

Hi, I am getting the nursery ready for my first baby but have no clue about home decorating Confused I have my eye on a large, crochet rug on Etsy (machine washable at 30 degrees). My Auntie reckons this might be unsafe in a nursery, as it might "rucker up" at the edges and cause a trip hazard. She says it would be better to get one with a non-slip bottom. Has anyone had a crochet or woven, not-non-slip nursery rug? If so, was it okay or did it end in disaster??

The rug would also have to tuck under the legs of a few furniture pieces (a a long, narrowish room). Is this okay from a design or a safety point of view?

Thanks for reading Smile

The rug is circular if that makes a difference.

I had a woven rug on wooden floorboards, which made for some fantastic ice-skating /sledging practice. It’s OK with anti-slip backing, but wrinkled up and moved enough for me to get rid....

I think you should leave it for now as your baby won’t need it for crawling for a while, and it’s not worth the risk of slipping or tripping whilst carrying the baby.

The nursery looks lovely!

Thanks for replying - looks like Auntie Alyson was right all along! Will opt for a sensible rug when the time comes then, and have gone for jazzy curtains instead.

Thanks, it feels like a never-ending job atm, but will be worth it when Baby is here no doubt!
