What do you think looks better? If we were to tile it, where do we need to start?! Confused

Slate is easier to clean and keep looking nice imo

Mintae · 05/10/2020 20:38

Do you find it is a bit shiny though?

Slate or granite would be my preference.

No slate isn’t shiny at all.

We used large-scale rivened slate floor tiles for ours. They were much (much!) cheaper than a slate hearth would cost, and everyone assumes they’re the original flagstone flooring (old house). Id imagine it might look rubbish in a more contemporary setting though.

Thanks. The slate we are being offered looks very shiny IMO. That’s why I was wondering if tiles would look better than a black sort of block.

Perhaps the slate has been sealed with something shiny? I’m just guessing though!

8Hi I had same dilemma had log burner fitted and they put shiny slate hearth in. I hated it. He changed it for an old flagstone but it got so dirty. We then put porcelain tules down and we live it. Prob not everyone's cup of tea but I love it so hard wearing and easy to clean
