I’d like to give some pieces of my wooden furniture a new lease of life! What is the best wood paint to use? Annie Sloan? Rustoleam? Any others?

Do I need to wax the painted furniture afterwards?

Depends on what kind of finish you are after, and whether you want something 'safe' / VOC / Chemical free etc.

Annie Sloan, Rustoleam are all mega high VOC, but if you're looking for something lower VOC maybe start there?

Any of those plastic based paints will stick to anything, and don't really need a wax to protect.

Do want something kind of eggshell, slight sheen but not glossy?

If you want something more natural / eco, then this paint is a nice half way (I used it on my skirting boards / doors etc ) - www.organicnaturalpaint.co.uk/shop/natural-wood-paint-interior-exterior-grafclean-midsheen/

I’ve used chalk paint and its the worst. I prepped, painted and waxed and the furniture looks awful and not white at all. Im thinking of selling the wardrobe i painted but my friend painted hers in Dulux Satinwood and it looks absolutely beautiful. Much tougher that chalk paint.
I might give it a go if I can find somewhere that put it.
