Accent chimney breast

We're going to get rid of the accent wallpaper on our chimney breast and have it painted instead.

I'm struggling to work out what colour to have it. Someone suggested dove grey but I can't decide if that's dull or safe in a good way.

Photo of said chimney breast attached. Our sofas are the colour on the right. We have dark wooden floors.

Hopeful bump.

My parents have dark floors and wooden furniture and cream sofas and they've recently had an interior designer do their room and she did a sort of forest green colour and it is lovely with the wood.

If you like grey, a warmer grey would be nicer in a living room. Farrow and ball do one called Charleston Grey which is very nice. I have it on my wardrobe doors and it's really lovely.

I really like the wallpaper (not helpful I know). I'd be tempted to go for a dark green but in the alcove bits behind the chimney. Will go with your sofa too. Or a dark blue would work.

Hmm. Green sounds like it would work.

To be fair @OliviaBenson we've lived with it for 4 years (previous owners did it) but now I want to put another painting up on the adjoining wall it looks a bit busy.
