White walls in living room

I’m working from home in a rental and I’m sick to the back teeth of seeing the inside of an empty magnolia box!!

We are planning on moving next year and I don’t want to change it too much as we will have to change it back.

What are people’s thoughts for a fresh white for a living room? The alcoves are wallpapered dark but I’d rather change this too, and just add a splash of colour with rug and cushions, keeping it simple will be best.

If I go for white on three walls and the fireplace, will it look right? What kind of finish do I need to look for? What paint to do people recommend?

Total novice. Thanks Smile

We recently did our downstairs in Dulux Timeless - until I chose it I was blisfully unaware that there are actually 798 shades of white Grin

There are lots of threads on here about the 'right' shade of white, I just went with Timeless as it gets great reviews and is reasonable price-wise. It's lovely - clean, bright and simple. Accessories and plants look great beside it. We did our woodwork in white satinwood. It is my intention to do every room in the house this colour, as they need doing. So simple for touch-ups etc and everything looks fresh.
