Carpets. What colour?

Replacing my grey carpets in the upstairs of our house. Downstairs is now dark wood effect laminate. What is the 'new' neutral? I want to move away from grey but have the beige/magnolia fear also. Also if anyone has recommendations for types of carpets a scratchy cat won't destroy!

I'm interested in carpet too, think I want some in my living room to make it warmer.
I really like the wool Berber ones like this but have a cat & fear he would destroy it!

@isolatedizzy I like the greige. That might be what I need. No idea what to do about the cat she is very cute but a total carpet destroyer!
