How to change living room?

Name changed for this!

I love our living room but tired of the white. I'm not sure what colour to paint it though. We have a fairly bright blue sofa and yellow chairs, with lots of brown floor and furniture so not really sure that there are many other options. I was thinking a pale grey could be nice but is that a bit old now? Any other tips on how to change it up welcome! It's a through lounge so has the dining table in it too, and is much lighter at one end (I absolutely love the light) than the other. Some things in the room were stop gaps/not finished and we've just never
got round to sorting them e.g. no light fitting over the dining table still, and the not very pretty grey blinds.

Sounds like you could find a nice wallpaper that has a hint of the blue and yellow of your seating in if you feel adventurous?

Changed my mind having seen the pics. That blue is gorgeous. I would keep a light colour, a light grey with a bluey feel to it?

Have you seen these velvet lampshades in Habitat? Those would be lovely in your room.

I have a similar style room and have always gone for a white or cream paint - it's so lovely having such a light room. I'd use colour in paintings and cushions and lamp shades, personally.

I'd get one of those large overhanging floorlamps rather than an overhead dining one. Something like this Flos floorlamp.

But your room is quite dark so I wouldn't wallpaper it. Wevet Farrow & Ball would be nice.

You have a lovely front room.

If it was mine - I would get rid of the coffee table. I personally don't like them, it would create a more "open" feel.

I wouldn't paint it. Your furniture is brightly coloured and I could imagine it being hard to get a colour that suits.

I always find it's the little details that makes a big difference,

Good luck :)

How about a neutral with a yellow hint which would add some brightness, we’ve put dulux natural calico in a few rooms now and it really freshens them up.
If you do want a grey we’ve put little green dash of soot in a sunny room with a similar floor colour to yours and it’s a good warm grey.

I got bored with the white in my living room too and painted it inchyra blue with railings on the woodwork. I also used seoni wallpaper (John Lewis). I have a dark blue sofa and a yellow chair and it works.

Very pale blue.

Thanks everyone. I like the idea of inchyra blue but we already have another dark blue room in the house so think it might be a bit much. Will give the other suggestions a try!
