Anybody who has a clue about curtains and panels and voiles out there? It's a rubbish picture, but basically we are moving into a rented apartment with three windows in a row. On the photo you can only see the one side. There is a track high up that I'll need to use for something, perhaps replacing these panel voiles (IKEA?). I want to make the height look more proportionate, soften it and just make the whole thing more elegant. I also need help with colour because I can't do anything about the terracotta floor. I was thinking maybe teal curtains? Any ideas, links, descriptions of what on earth to do are very very welcome!!

Looks like quite large drop. I would definitely stay with a lighter fabric a voile or lightweight cotton.

You can check out Ikea to see what they have. I think teal would make it look dark, I’d probably stick to neutral shades if not a white. If you wanted a panel curtain these are good option.

@Pluckedpencil I would get a very soft, double width voile, with tie backs, so that you can have a wide scoop across the top of the window, which should proportion the whole thing a bit better. Stick to white for the walls and the voiles, don’t put any more colour in that room, you need to neutralise the terracotta.

Are there shutters on the outside of the window? Do you need the curtain for warmth / privacy?

If your rental agreement allows, I would remove the voile and pole, and put up a Roman blind which is fixed about 30cm above the top of the window to add a bit of height and balance. I agree with neutral colours.
