Freestanding bath experiences?

They’re everywhere on Instagram and I’m tempted by the look of them but my initial browsing shows a wide range of prices so I’d like to know if you own/or owned one!

Do you have any negatives? Are they comfortable to lie in? Do they retain heat well?

I see a lot of people put them up against walls with the taps in the walls (and the shower head attachment hanging in between the bath and wall) but I wonder whether it’ll be a massive dust trap!

Any advice would be much appreciated thank you!

Ours is freestanding against a wall. Taps in the wall.. no shower attachment so simple and easy to clean

Not comfy to lie in.. the shape is the problem.. should've tried beforehand. Yes retains the heat better than the last one.

I love the look.. only downside is comfort but that's just this one. Plus make sure you have enough hot water to fill it!

Thank you @redgin I’ve seen some very steep sided ones and thought they might be uncomfortable! Typically the one I like that’s large enough and looks fairly comfortable to lie in is £3k!!! Where did you buy yours from?

It was a local independent bathroom shop, and some years ago.. can't remember the make either, sorry.

Yes definitely lie in them for comfort.

We have a bogstandard bath at home but frequently stay in holiday lets with fancy freestanding baths and some are really uncomfortable for relaxing in with a book and glass of wine. I like the slipper style ones best, but I'm fairly short...

I think the slipper baths look the most comfortable but part of me thinks if I do get a bath that’s too comfortable I’ll never see my husband again cause he’s the one who uses it!
