White or stainless steel kitchen sink?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/09/2020 10:37

I can't decide. I think I like the look of the white sink but am worried it will end up stained.

Is it hard to keep it white?

Opinions please!

White ceramic or composite? If ceramic v easy to keep white - think about your bathroom sink, they come up white after every clean. I occasionally need to give the odd mark a good scrub with cif but have never failed to get the mark off. You do have to be careful with anything glass you out in there.

Only white if it's ceramic and you're not accident prone! We have a white plastic one and it is so difficult to keep clean. Steel all the way for me, easy to clean and I wouldn't break glasses like I do in ceramic ones!

I had a cheap white one in a rented flat. Rinsing out a tea mug stained it. I used to have to bleach it several times a week.
Will a ceramic sink cope with a whack from a saucepan, or will it chip?
Personally I'd choose stainless steel. (And a double sink.)

ok I'm glad I asked! I am quite accident prone so couldn't cope with dropping things into the sink. Nor do I want one that stains all the time.

What about black...?

Black - you won't see the mould in the overflow. That's either a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.

We've got black.
You have to be careful with water marks on the draining board.

Thanks. At least I know it won't be white! Will have a think about the black or stainless steel.

I had stainless steel and it scratched a lot. I have a butler sink in the new kitchen. It does stain if you put tea down without rinsing🤬at DH.
However the fitters provided me with Butler’s cleaner spray and it comes up a treat.
