Venetian blind- is within window recess best or does overlap work too?

OK, this isn’t exciting but I don’t know if it’s worth the bother and expense of getting a made to measure blind to fit exactly into the recess ( which is about 15cm deep) , or If it would be ok to overshoot the window and just have a bit of blind on each side? Any advice gratefully received. It’s for a kitchen.

Following . Allow if you do it outwith recess you could get a pelmetted style blind.

Consider what you might want to put on the window ledge - if we have blinds in the recess there's not enough room for a vase, plant pot etc

I am contemplating the same thing! All my windows would need made to measure so this could save me hundreds!

Sorry not helpful op but bumping!

My preference is to have recessed blinds. I find them neater than blinds that sit outside of the window frame. I also have made to measure curtains too though. It is more expensive but I figure that when I buy them I'm investing in the choice for many years.

Thanks everyone. I must admit this is for a rental property, not my own home. However I seem to be putting more thought and money into this, than I ever put into my own home.
Anyway, as I ‘ ve spent on quality builder, worktop, flooring, etc for the renovation it would make sense to pay for made to measure. It seems the consensus is this will look better and that does make sense.
I’m off to shop around for prices.
