Bathroom light cord - want a coloured cord?

Completely stumped. Instead of the white trad cord that gets grubby, can anyone suggest what to use instead? We are able to replace the cord ourselves but just can’t think of what to use. Any ideas? Need bright... or dark... just not white???

Fluorescent green of course 🙄
What colour is you bathroom? Do you want it to be a feature or blend into the wall?

stormsurfer · 22/08/2020 20:36

Put a clear plastic straw over the cord and then it doesn't get dirty!

Ha thanks I can decide on the colour but where do you buy such a cord?? Feature definitely! It’s downstairs shower room with dark but bright floral wallpaper and teal painted walls…

Could you use a white cord and a permanent colour marker to colour it?
Do it on a firm surface rather than in situ, and leave it overnight to really dry.

Sorry, my OP meant I don’t know where to source coloured light cords for bathrooms, not which colour.

Bright coloured dylon?

What colour is your bathroom?
I'd got for a teal.

That’s a very good idea - I usually can think around the issue but just couldn’t on this occasion. We do have a million Sharpies! Thank you @WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat

I'm sure if you went to a good haberdashery shop you'd find some. Take a bit of the old one with you to compare thickness.

Would Dylon work though? Surely the cords are nylon-y

Thank you that was my initial thought. But all I can imagine is wool or yarn, nothing with that innate stiffness of a nylon cord. We have 2 pendant lights in our kitchen, one with a yellow woven cord and the other with orange, but they were ££ because of the electricity running through them

Sorry for the abysmal links but you get the idea

stormsurfer · 22/08/2020 22:17

Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you were looking for a colour to avoid the problem with the white getting discoloured. My local hardware shop sells differently coloured cords. You could still cover it with a clear straw to protect it though! Or even use bright straws over white to change the colour :)

ShimmeringIce · 23/08/2020 09:57

Sorry, I misunderstood! You might find eBay cheaper than Etsy eg. 3mm cord Just be sure to filter for UK only if you want it soon!

Ahh perfect! Thank you! Great links too especially to Etsy... some lovely wooden pulls but we only need the cord (inherited a gorgeous turned wood pull with the house 😊) problem solved thank you!

You can buy metal ones. We have this one from amazon which does the job.
