I want to paint my kitchen in Purbeck Stone, but previous F&B experience is that it's not very hard wearing. In your opinion, does a Dulux or Valspar colour match accurately reproduce F&B colours?

If you ask for a Dulux match, they will give you the closest match they have in the Dulux range. Some colours have a better match than others. IMO, Dulux is a better bet for a kitchen than F & B as it is harder wearing.

IME Johnstone’s will get you the closest match. Dulux decorator centres will get you closer than the desk in Homebase. I haven’t tried Valspar colour mixing so I can’t comment.

We have had the whole house matched in Johnson and the match is very very good but beware the eggshell paint from Johnson's is the worse paint I have ever come across. You only have to breathe on it and it marks

We have Brewers colour match F&B in Crown Trade Extreme Clean Matt. The match is really good and it’s very hard wearing, although we have only tried it in fairly pale colours. It’s also nice to paint with and decorators seem to like using it too.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think we'll go to a dulux centre and hope for the best

Decorating Centre Online do absolutely brilliant F&b matches and the pain quality is excellent.
