What colour would you paint the fire surround? I’m between 2 choices but it would be interesting to see what others think!

I like it as it is. I take the view that the more things that are painted, the more work it creates!

Yeah it actually looks quite nice in this photo but in reality it’s second-hand and tatty, really worn and stained in places so definitely needs a coat of something... just not sure what!

I just painted my tatty fire surround black but in retrospect it's a little too black (that's what I get for buying £5 bog-standard black-black paint from Wilko instead of £10,000 for 10ml designer paint in an off-black called Dead-Eyed Stare of a Former Lover). I'm thinking of going moss green instead.

I think green! Or a vintagey Art Deco apricotty pink.

I would go dark blue or green - frenchic do a gorgeous green colour called Victory Lane and a royal blue but I forget the name!

white or black. depends on the rest of the room really.

Ah interesting, thank you for the responses... I was thinking either black, very dark blue (bit tricky as the walls are a bluey/greeny/grey colour so need to make sure it doesn’t clash) or just white. Really dark green could possibly work too if the shade is right!
The rest of the woodwork in the room (shelves and window frames and sills) are white but considering going a bit bolder for the fireplace!

I’d go charcoal. And make sure it’s matt.
