We've recently got solid wood floors, and bought from here, they've got a large selection of engineered wood too. Ours is quite light oak I'd say.

Do you have to have wood skirting? I don’t think I like that.

For skirting board you mean? Our skirtings are painted white in most rooms, but we've inherited one room where the skirtings and architrave were painted a mushroom colour which also looks nice.

I don't think you need to have skirting boards, but you'd need maybe a thin trim to neaten off the edges I'd say?

I had skirting replaced at same time, it’s a much nicer finish than putting the trim round it. I had MDF skirting, painted white
