Velvet sofa

Can anyone tell me how well velvet sofas wear? They always look really squishy and comfy but if I get one will I regret it because it'll look tatty in a couple of years?

It really does depend on the qualities of the velvet. One may look tatty after a year another would look good in 10.

You will want a high rub test/martindale the lower the number the more wear will show. The higher the number means it can withstand more. I would avoid crushed velvet completely.

If you’re having something from an independent company or bespoke, make sure to check it is FR treated, as it has to by law.
