Cute little home decor ideas

So I have a house of boys and our living room isn’t looking very loved. Sometimes I go into people houses and they have cute little things that make a house a home. I am thinking things like sticks with fairy lights that sort of thing. Pictures in the wall obviously and cushions etc help. What other tips do people have for making our living room more welcoming. Our house will never be stylish so I dont really care about it being classy or fashionable. I just want to add some warmth. Anyone got any tips? sorry I know it’s a vague question but I don’t know where to start.

We don’t have a fireplace I think that would help with adding warmth and character. Our focal point in the tv !

I love Pinterest for that kind of thing, lots of ideas there.

Throws? I find different textures help a place feel cosier, so maybe different cushions on sofa as well as some big coloured throws.

The number one thing is ambient lighting. Get a couple of table lamps and use them instead of overhead lighting, especially in the evening. You can have all the cushions and throws in the world but if you don’t have soft, warm lighting it won’t matter.

Definitely lighting! Table lamps/floor lamps to give pools of light rather than just an overhead one.
Textures -cushions, throws, shaggy bean bags, whatever.
Big wicker basket to bung all the mess of toys etc in at the end of the day, so it feels tidier and more relaxing: whoever the messy items belong to can then retrieve them and tidy them away.
