Hello,
We have lived in our house for a decade and put up a load of pictures about 3 years ago, using Command strips and hooks. Now, all of a sudden the pictures are falling.
Two in the dining room, one in the bedroom (thankfully not above the bed Shock, one in another room and two in the stairwell/ landing. All in the last 5 weeks.
We have not done any renovation, painting or installed a sauna! I know we had a few hot days but last year was way hotter.
I'm thinking I should replace all of the strips with proper nails. One of the pictures was an embroidery that my (deceased) mum did and the frame is now broken. All of them are personal and precious to me.

Any one else? What would you do?

I'd definitely go with nails.

Look at it as the command strips let you get everything arranged, and now you've lived with it for three years, you're happy to put nails in Grin

Sorry to hear about the broken frame though. Hope it can be salvaged

What would you do?

Call in an exorcist.

I don't believe in stuff such as "no more nails". For light pictures, we use nails (and even then, sometimes it's difficult to hammer them into solid walls), and for heavier pictures, a drill and wall plug, or hook which goes over the picture rail (1930's house).

My dad put up the pictures in his house 32 years ago with plugs/screws and nails. They have never fallen off. Maybe the old way is the best here?

Yes I agree. It sounds like the no more glue has reached the end of its life. I’d take down any others and replace with nails.

Thanks for the replies: I think it's a great way to look at it- to see the command hooks as giving me the chance to see how it looks before using proper nails.
Old fashioned ways win out. Now I've got a weekend full of hammering to do. Smile
