Anyone tried dyeing leather sofa

We have an Inherited 80’s style orangey tan leather sofa which looks very ugly but is very comfortable and has quite a bit of wear left in it. I’ve been covering it with quilts and throws but they slip off all the time revealing the hideousness underneath 😂. I have been googling leather dye kits with a view to changing the colour to dark brown to make it easier to live with and wondered if anyone has experienced using them? Are they messy to use? Is it a faff to do? Does the dye come off on clothes? Are they non toxic (I’m pregnant / will soon have a small baby in the house). I’m eyeing up a kit from the Furniture Clinic: www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leather_Colourant_Kit

I'd do it outside. Maybe you cold fade the orange rather than dye it.
Have you tried asking on Houzz?

Would a rubber non-slip layer help the throw stay in place?

Thank you so much Mike - I’ll definitely look into these ideas!

Dark green or dark brown or maybe charcoal might be nice colours.

I'd be tempted to dye it.

You can paint it - I know!

If you are on FB join the Frenchic paint fan page. People are painting fridges, leather sofas, cats...

I don't think I'd want to paint it.

I’ve just dyed my leather sofa this week. It looks amazing! Beware though, the transfer gets everywhere!
