What flooring for a bungalow (old section+extension)?

Hi,
Due to budget constraints, we've been redoing the flooring of the bedroom wing of our 70yr old bungalow in dribs and drabs. We started one room with a pale grey wood vinyl floor and would like to continue it for all bedrooms - it looks really nice - and will probably do the narrow hall in the same pale grey too.

The problem I guess is that we've an extension planned for the rest of the house. Since it's a bungalow, we need to think clearly about the flooring in the extension also now and start getting a sense of what would work there. We wouldn't want the pale grey in the rest of the house, for example.

So - would anyone have any ideas about what flooring would work with a pale grey laminate. similar to this (minus the frilly furniture )? Or seen images of a bungalow where the flooring looks great?

We'll have a bigger budget for the extension flooring so can explore different options.

Should have said, I think we are both drawn to a dark wood floor for the extension, which will prob have a slightly edgier look overall. I hope we haven't painted ourselves into a corner with the pale grey in the bedroom wing
