I have ALWAYS coveted a chair like this. Where can I get one??

I can finally afford to buy things like this but now don’t know where to look.

I’ve attached the picture. I’d like it wide and comfy like this- I’m a slouchy kind of person rather than an upright one.

Are they called French style chairs? What do I google? What (preferably online) shops might sell them?

Looks like a Louis Quinze chair to me. Plenty on Ebay.

Do you want this exact shape? They have specific names, this could be a Louis XIV or Louis XV one but I am not an expert at all. I have seen similar on a website called firstdibs and there are lots on similar vintage shops online. I really would advise you to have a good look around as I have no idea what they are supposed to be worth. And don't forget you might have extra costs if you want to reupholster it.

My mother inherited chairs like that. They are not very comfortable tbh. You sit very upright in them. The back is very odd. Too low down to rest your head against.

I suppose I didn’t mean slouchy, I meant I prefer the soft beaten looking ones rather than the puffed up full cushion of the modern ones

I got it about 4 years ago through an offer with House Beautiful and I'm sure it was Swoon but just checked and can't see similar however found on Pinterest - Lille French Style Armchair, putty grey.

Maisons du Monde have similar but £540 and found one on Dunelm for £329 but temporarily unavailable.
