Do these paint colours go together?

I want to paint ds bedroom. It’s north facing and I need to warm it up and give it a pop of colour as it can be a drab room in the winter- currently magnolia. So this is the planned colour for a feature wall

I’m just aware that my eye for colour is poor. Should I choose a cream to go with the yellow instead of grey? The accessories will all be grey including curtains.

I don't think they go together as one is a warm tone and the other is a cool tone. What about getting one of the colour strips with the yellow tone on it and choosing the palest shade on the sample strip (iyswim)? It's usually a good way of getting the colours spot on.

Yes, they work well. That grey is strong enough to resonate against the yellow. Have you asked him if he likes that yellow? It's quite a distinctive colour. the grey is a really good neutral base so you could paint the feature wall pretty much any strong colour to go with it.

I have polished pebble in my bathroom and live it. I’m not keen on that yellow though. I think I’d want something a little brighter

Yes he actually chose the yellow, he wanted a deep gold yellow. I am slightly worried about the grey being too cool a colour for a north facing room.

Also that grey, is our dressing room here. It is so light once it’s on the walls. Either of the yellows would be fine with it.

I have polished pebble in my dd’s north facing room, it’s fine.

Gorgeous yellow. I would go with a slightly deeper grey...a warm tone.

Great to know I’m on the right track. I’ve made a lot of expensive mistakes in the past! I will order a few tester pots though. Just seen some gorgeous Orla Kiely grey curtains as well.

Too much of a contrast between the grey and yellow, imo. Both are mid tones and cancel each other out. The grey dulls the yellow and it looks a you're scared of the colour. Paint the whole room yellow if that's your DS choice, white woodwork and a hint of black/black-green or black-blue somewhere in the room to ground it?

I think those colours kill each other stone dead to be honest. And the north facing light will be blueish, not warm, and that particular yellow won’t work or wouldn’t for me. F&B have a glorious ochreous colour, Indian Yellow, maybe have a look at that?

I agree that you could just paint the whole room that yellow and tone it down with accessories. Its a lovely colour.

Yeah I have polished pebble in my kitchen diner. I love it. It's definitely a cool shade. We're south facing and in certain lights it looks a bit blue/purple. Wouldn't go with a warm yellow like others have said. Can you not go all yellow then accent with grey?

Yellow and grey can be lovely but I agree that the combination isn't quite right. Either do the whole room in English Trifle or use a brighter yellow as an accent. I have recently used Little Greene Mister David as an accent under an archway and absolutely love it. You might like LG Carys.

Not sure with the obsession about painting walls different colours.

The first yellow is absolutely gorgeous ❤️ I would definitely go for Johnstone's paint, it's good to paint with. Also, they mix the exact colour of any F and B paint so they may do other brands. The colours match exactly

I do like the trifle colour and it does seem good value.

I have just painted my hallway polished pebble, just to let you know it’s quite a light grey (I’d say off white almost). I really like it, but it might not go with the yellow if you were wanting a darker shade of grey.
