What would you use this room for?

This is the attic room in my house - currently just used for storing a few boxes but that's it. I don't have kids so have a bedroom downstairs that I use as an office as it gets quite hot up here but is bearable on cooler days and in the evening. It feels like a waste not to use it but I don't have any inspiration and don't have lots of money to spend on furniture or decoration. Maybe it'll just have to stay as storage!

Oh books! Get some shelves built into the eaves. A nice armchair and footstool. Basket full of half done knitting/cross stitch at the side. Wine fridge. Radio.

BruceAndNosh · 02/06/2020 21:16

Does it have windows?

Chatons · 02/06/2020 21:17

Please show us a pic!

Chatons · 02/06/2020 21:18

Oh I’m liking the idea of library/craft room.

Chatons · 02/06/2020 21:19

Is there room for a table for doing jigsaw puzzles as well?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/06/2020 21:22

It has one window, and also has power and heating up there. I guess a lot of people would see it as a room to escape to away from the rest of the family bit I live alone so don't have that necessity! I don't really need it but equally it seems a waste to not use one whole floor of the house!

Air b&b?

wheresmolly · 02/06/2020 21:27

I should also mention it's a rented house so I wouldn't want to spend too much on doing anything to it in case I had to move.

I wish I had enough books for a library - I got rid of loads when I moved - also I don't read that much.

If you don't need it then it's not a waste to not use it.

fairydustandpixies · 02/06/2020 21:37

Watching as I have the same dilemma! But no staircase up, just a dodgy ladder!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/06/2020 21:41

Do you have any hobbies?

UnhappyMondays · 02/06/2020 21:51

I’d probably use it as a pamper/dressing room; somewhere to store all clothes & shoes with a fabulous dressing table and huge mirror (& maybe a massage table for home treatments if/when this is allowed)... I’d steal the idea of pp above and add a wine fridge WinkWine

I loved my attic room when I lived on my own, I insulated and painted it myself. I used it as a little snug, with all the books I didn't know where to put and a cosy chair. But it could be too warm. A small air con unit would be bliss.

TimeWastingButFun · 02/06/2020 22:23

*Unhappy I LOVE that idea. Dressing room and wine fridge. Sigh....
