Dulux Chic Shadow - True grey or a bit purple?

We're considering using Dulux Chic Shadow in our study and are wondering if people have found it to be truly grey or if there's a hint of purple about it? DH really wants the room to have a masculine feel (it's very much his den!) so doesn't want hints of any other colour, especially pink or purple. We've got a sample but have looked at it so much that we can no longer tell whether it's a bit lilac or if our eyes are just playing tricks on us!

Any other 'true grey' recommendations gladly received!

We’ve got chic shadow on the fire wall and polished pebble elsewhere. Polished pebble is my favourite of the two, it’s obviously paler, but definitely grey in our light. I’ve read many threads on here about the different greys though and how they can look very different depending on the position of your room / lighting etc!

Sorry I didn’t address the lilac question. I’d say both colours are definitely grey. There’s maybe a tiny hint of lilac in chic shadow if you stare long enough. But I don’t think you’d walk into a room of it and think you were in a lilac room, definitely a grey room.

I’ve not noticed any hint of purple (I truly dislike purple and especially lilac).

It's a true grey.

I get a tiny hint of purple from it, in my hallway which has no light
Goose down is true grey to me

Very true grey. It's lovely. Not dark, but not dirty white.

Chic shadow in my bathroom appeared a little purple but may of been light in there , I also have polished pebble elsewhere and find that a nice grey
May be best to get a little tester and use in room to get an good idea

We have chic shadow it’s a true grey and quite dark. We also have polished pebble and I love it such a beautiful grey

It's grey in our bathroom but on bright days there is a little hint of purple.

We have Goose Down in our hallway and it definitely has a lilac tint in some lights (especially with a smoky grey lampshade as comparison), so although I think its a gorgeous colour I wouldn't go for that. We only noticed it when the full first coat had dried! When we were looking I thought Chic Shadow looked more like a true grey but we never saw it in sunlight so it's hard to gauge. Polished pebble looks lovely!

We’ve also got chic shadow and polished pebble and they’re both lovely and grey. In teenage ds room so any hint of lilac would have been noticed and moaned about Grin

It was a true grey in our south-east facing bathroom but the effect was full battleship and I just ended up finding it depressing, so I have just painted over it in white!

Thanks everyone. Popped out to Homebase earlier and got some more testers, so we're now looking at chic shadow, polished pebble, goose down and even denim drift (thought that might make a nice feature wall). I'm sure we'll end up spending more money on the testers than on the paint itself!
