I've been home based for 10 years and have a home office set up. DH has just been told he'll be wfh until October and then he'll be mainly wfh with minimal requirement to go to the office. He's been working at the kitchen table.

We are lucky in that we are empty nesters and have two spare rooms. We do have frequent visitors so want to keep the beds in them. Any great buys for small/portable/foldaway but stable desks? Also office chairs?

Was looking at desks on Vinterior and thought this looked pretty incredible Magic box desk. Would a bureau or secretary work, or even a dressing table to be multipurpose? How much space do you have? The other option is to get a sofa bed and to change the emphasis of the room but keeping the dual purpose.

We have a studybed in our spare room which is also my home office. We like it so much that when we convert the garage we are going to get another one!

Go sit-stand desk if you can, it's been a huge help for me. Ikea does a mechanised one and a hand-crank one (for much much less) with a variety of top sizes/shapes.

Have DH's work suggested they'll pony up cash for suitable ergonomic kit, or are they divesting responsibility?

I'm currently WfH in my DSD's bedroom. Obviously, I still want it to be 'her' room, so I've made a desk out of our saw horses with some mdf on top - when she's staying I can just pack it up in a minute or two!

You can make something similar but more stylish using IKEA trestle legs and one of their desk tops - then when you have guests just take the top off and hide the bits under the guest bed!

Love the idea of a studybed - never heard of that before! Brilliant. The magic box looks good and could even fit in the living room - DH is completely paperless and only has his laptops and screens so he wouldn't need all of that.

Looks like a sit/stand Ikea desk is more likely. Although I'm tempted to measure up for the studybed for myself. A bit of reorganisation would mean I could have an additional spare room which would be very handy.

Thanks so much for your ideas!
