What style of kitchen for timeless appeal

Hi there, we are giong to be doing up the kitchen of our 'new' (1910 classic 3 bed semi house). It's just a small room, and the rest of the decor of the house is dark wood floors, white walls and jade green and orange soft furnishing. All quite neutral. The kitchen at the mo is high gloss white doors and black granite work top. I like it, but it's falling apart. We will ideally be selling in 10 years, so would ideally like a kitchen that will be a timeless classic.
I'm thinking neutral coloured shaker style with similar granite worksurface (ideally reusing the one we have!) but maybe there are other styles that would be better.
What do you think?

What you're planning (neutral kitchen, granite worktops) sounds like it won't particularly date. But 10 years is a long time and the kitchen won't look new by then. It's likely whoever buys it will at least consider replacing it, and certainly won't consider a 10 year old kitchen a selling point, so make sure it's something you like in the meantime, rather than just trying to decorate in a way that you think won't offend anyone else's tastes.

Very good point @restoration I hadn’t really thought of that! Thanks
