If you have a kitchen bin with a sensor..

How often do you find yourself replacing the batteries? Our kitchen bin just broke and we desperately need a new one. I found a Morphy Richards one with a sensor I like and I can't decide whether it's worth getting. For some reason I keep thinking about how much I will be spending on batteries. So I thought I'd ask on here Grin

We had to take the batteries out of our one as DD was terrified of it.

I have one and I love it. Mine was from Costco. The batteries last for ages. Not exactly sure but we maybe change them twice a year if that.

Bridecilla · 13/05/2020 18:55

Maybe once a year if that. Takes 6 batteries though.

Mine lasts for ages.

What’s the sensor for? Confused

avocadoze · 13/05/2020 19:01

The sensor is for family members who are unable to sort their recycling and food waste from general waste. It detects them approaching the bin with inappropriate materials and barks out at high volume “NOT IN THAT BIN STUPID” and locks the lid.

In my dreams

Actually the sensor opens the lid for you.

Around once a year for my Morphy Richards bin

Not changed them yet - had it for about 6/7 months. Got a made.com one.

About every 18 months. I think it claims to do 10,000 openings before they need replacing. I've had a sensor bin for 4 years and we are on our 3rd set of batteries.

That's great, thanks all for the input. I've ordered it now Grin do any of you have any tips/hacks on keeping it clean and smelling fresh? Are they easy to clean?
