Tips for cleaning a newly painted navy wall

All tips gratefully received.

We have a newly plastered and painted wall and where the electrics are is the residue of the dust and fingerprints.

Do you have any tips as to what to do to remove these marks without the wall looking streaky?

We got a trade matt paint.

Photos of the work in progress included.

Thank you.

I would lightly sand and just paint over it. I'm going through the same with a Matt burgundy wall and it shows EVERYTHING!

Thank you. Darn it, I was going not to get the paintbrush out.

I’ve had success with a magic sponge. It’s doesn’t seem much, but is quite dense and it works on walls.

You could try a Pledge fluffy duster for the dust and a barely damp cloth for the fingerprints in the first instance.

Whatever you do don’t use a magic sponge / eraser. I did this on my mustard walls last week and it’s made them look much worse with smudges it’s changed the colour of the paint on those areas. It’s a Dulux wipeable paint as well.

Yes, magic sponges are good but they work by abrasion so they will take the top layer of paint off, especially if it's newly painted and not fully cured.

I might try the fluffy duster. I have gone over it with a new microfibre cloth (dry) and that seems to have removed the bulk of the dusty marks.

I had a dark walk in previous house, was bit of nightmare with white marks if you brushed past it etc.. but I used to use a damp microfibre cloth on the marks and it come up perfect each time.
