Ikea Vimle vs Ektorp - which has better support for bad back?

As thread title states, if you've had both of these sofas will you tell me please which you prefer(red)?

Description for both states they "give good support for your body and quickly regain original shape when you get up". The Vimle has a headrest providing 'nice support for your neck' and the Ektorp provides 'soft support for your back'.

I have back problems and really need good lumbar support. Not sure exactly how 'soft' the Ektorp support is, but every review I've read about that model says how comfy it is. I think the Vimle may be a more recent model and have read mixed reviews. We visited our local Ikea store last weekend to test out sofas and the Vimle did feel comfy to me, but that was for a couple of minutes in a busy crowded store - they didn't have an Ektorp on display so couldn't try that. Assistant wasn't sure when they would get one in but I'll phone and check and if that model does come in, we'll go back once the CV crisis has eased. Either way, don't want to spend money and then find that the sofa we bought really doesn't provide proper support.

So if you have a bad back and have either the Vimle or Ektorp sofa, or better yet have had both, which is better? Thanks in advance.

We have the Vimle. Never tried or had an Ektorp. I don’t have a bad back in general, sometimes it aches. The Vimle is the comfiest sofa we have ever had, a year on it’s still in great shape, that’s with a teenager & preteen.

I have Ektorp - it's now 2.5 years old and bought it when I had a bad back (preggo) and couldn't deal with a 12 + week wait for a new sofa as per most other retailers. My views are that it is a great value sofa. The backs are high which is a must for me and it's not too low on the floor so your knees aren't raised above your hips. Downside is that the seat cushions have flattened and need restuffing. We will look to upgrade at some point in the future but for now I'm happy with our purchase.
