We've just had a very similar one to the darker shade fitted in two bedrooms, and will be doing the rest of the bedrooms and stairs in it. It's a lot easier to keep looking clean. How much traffic does the area get? Is it your living room?

I'd probably go for the darker colour carpet.
This is brilliant at getting stains out of carpet.

I like the lighter one. We had a carpet like that in our 50 sq m flat with a baby till age three. It was fine. Rug doctor once a year and it will come up good as new! They also do a spot cleaning spray.

I’d go with the darker one, we’ve got similar and looks as good as new.

I prefer the lighter one. If we all decorated in the “easier to keep clean” shades we’d all live in brown houses.

I prefer the darker one. I always find it helpful to match my carpet to as near cat sick as possible. Because of course they go out of their way to throw up on the carpet rather than the wooden floors. Even if it means climbing a flight of stairs in preparation. 😹🙄

I prefer the lighter one and I second the Dr Beckmann's thing with the brush on top for spot cleaning.

The lighter one will make the room look lighter too. Not sure on sofa colours because I can’t even decide for myself, only because my dh is boring and wants ‘safe’ colours.

Darker one definitely!
The light one will show up 'traffic' very quickly.

Yep, we’ve just moved in and it’s well worn and pretty filthy! We’ve cleaned but need to get new.

Hmm I think I'd go for the darker one, for a little more contrast between the carpet and the white furniture?
