I’m going round the bend trying to find tiles I like and it’s delaying the start of the bathroom.
I have a small bathroom that’s going to be made into a wet room so DH wants it tiled floor to ceiling.
I’m so fed up looking at tiles on line and in shops that I’m open to almost any suggestions.
Within reason price isn’t too much of an issue I only need 16 square meters so could go to about £4500 on tiles.
If it helps to know basin and loo will be off the floor and white and simple lines, wall mounted chrome taps towel rail modern style so again simple lines and walk in shower surrounded by plain glass it’s meant to look classy but understated and timeless it’s costing a fortune and this is my lifetime home so I don’t want to do it again for many years.
My house is a cottage 500+ years old and although bathroom is a seventies extension so just a box.
Oh and I don’t like obvious horizontal or vertical patterns. just white as it’s too stark and clinical or anything that requires complex time consuming cleaning.

I would ask on the 'mrs hinch' facebook page, you'll have hundreds of replies within the hour!

Woozers £200+ per sqm on tiles!!

Try wallsandfloors.co.uk. You can get full size samples and they have a massive range

Mandarin Stone shops have some unusual tiles. Look at their terrazzo range.

DramaAlpaca · 23/02/2020 02:39

My advice is to go neutral and classic. Twenty years ago I went for cool & fashionable and they are so dated now that I hate them.

£4500 on tiles?

Some lovely and unusual designs here: www.emeryetcie.com/en/catalog/tiles/

This sentence makes no sense

How about the panels rather than tiles? Avoid anything mosaic like - I have them and my god, the grout... so much

MaJoady · 24/02/2020 10:42

If you aren't sure what you like, have you tried looking on Rightmove? Pick either "new houses" or ones that have been recently renovated and see what you like.

For a bathroom it doesn't really matter how modern or otherwise the houses you look at are (you aren't going to want a bathroom representative of a 500yr old house!) But for other inspiration (kitchen for example), I try to look at houses of a similar age / style.

I just discovered this tile supplier in Sweden, beautiful and unusual designs www.marrakechdesign.se/en/

If I had the budget I would look at Fired Earth & Claybrook (started by ex-fired earth employees)

fastliving · 27/02/2020 11:43

@TiddleTaddleTat why did you post! I'm in love with half the tiles on that site...and have no way of affording any of them Sad they are so beautiful.

TiddleTaddleTat · 27/02/2020 12:08

Haha sorry fastliving same here, I was pondering the sale section for a small batch of decorative tiles to mix in with plainer designs

flirtygirl · 28/02/2020 16:52

Ridiculous to spend even more than £1k on 16 sqm of tiles, so really hope that was a typo. You could get real marble for under 1k and other really beautiful natural stones. Basically choose your colour then style.

But £4500 on tiles, wow.

Franticbutterfly · 29/02/2020 08:28

We have these in our en suite and they were super cheap:

I have found that there is a large range of porcelain tiles at shows like Grand Designs. Often there are large discounts.

I have noted that specialist tile suppliers are also more competitive than bathroom and tile showrooms.

fastliving · 02/03/2020 22:32

Any particular recommendations @Minnni ?
