Can I have a green bed in a blue bedroom??

Ok silly question possibly but what do you think? They are similar tones, soft sagey green bed and soft grey blue bedroom walls. For some reason I feel like it’s going to look odd. Maybe needs some pink or something to make it all work?

PS can’t find any pictures of this colour combination which is probably why I’m thinking it may be odd...

I have a similar dilemma - green walls, but I cannot find bedding to "go".

I have a patterned scarf which has the right shade of green in it, which I'm carrying around. If I find bedding in any one - or more - of the other colours, I know the colour scheme will work. (A wallpaper swatch with the right colours could also help).

Happy hunting.

Photo of the scarf? Could a plain dusty pink go?

Sounds lovely, restful and gentle or calming iyswim. Btw you can have whatever you want!!

Thanks nic. I know I can but just seem to have a hang up about blue and green together...!

I can't do a photo - but the pattern is based on Van Gogh's almond blossom paintings - pastel greens and blues, with almond (natch) pinks.

Angie6868 · 18/02/2020 21:25

I wouldn't have it but you can have whatever you want. There's a saying "blue and green should never be seen" as they don't really "go" together. If you like it though, go for it

Sharonthetotallyinsane · 18/02/2020 21:26

Sounds lovely.

KittenVsBox · 18/02/2020 21:29

I always thought it was red and green should not be seen!

Anyway, DS has blue and green striped curtains, blue bedding and a green wall. Not sagey colours, big, bright bold colours......

I'd give it a go. Buy the bedding, lay it on the bed, and wrap it back up for returns if no good.

GrassyGreen · 18/02/2020 21:31

I've always believed that nature has a good way of showing us what colours can work together. If green and blue are of similar shades I don't see why not.

MargotLovedTom1 · 18/02/2020 21:32

What colour are your curtains and carpet?

KittenVsBox · 18/02/2020 21:33

Do you mean something like this? But in reverse? It might need some neutrals to tone it down a bit, but I like it.

Whybirdwhy · 18/02/2020 21:34

I think it sounds nice. I have a green and blue room (not bedroom) I think it feels calm but colourful and people often say how nice it is (for no particular reason) when they walk in. Some of the colours are quite strong and it has a lot of natural light.

MapMyMum · 18/02/2020 21:34

I agree with GrassyGreen, plus I think a lot of old sayings really are ignored nowadays, thankfully!

minipie · 18/02/2020 21:43

Kitten the first pic that comes up on your link (“Soft Green and Aqua Blue Master Bedroom”) it’s those sorts of colours but blue on walls and a green fabric bed.

Carpet is pale greige. Blind is an old one that doesn’t go and will be replaced. There’s a yellow based pic on the wall. Not a huge amount of light as just one small n facing window, so I’m not going to get a fields and sky kind of feeling sadly!

It may be that saying influencing me

Green and blue and I'm singing "under the sea!"

MargotLovedTom1 · 18/02/2020 21:49

I'd say a heather type colour for cushions/throws etc would look nice. Just basing this on a lovely blanket I saw which had sage, heather and greyish blue in it.

MargotLovedTom1 · 18/02/2020 22:10

I know these won't be the exact shades you have, but just for illustrative purposes.

I’m thinking of a pink and then the whole room is kind of sugared almonds shades? Not terribly grown up but pretty...

I have pale pink walls, pale blue curtains but with a small navy blue daisy print and a pale green duvet cover with a navy throw and it's just lovely

minipie · 19/02/2020 08:20

Ooh yes a bit of navy in there might make it a bit more grown up. Thanks

Slightly different to an adult bedroom but teen DS has alternating green and blue walls either bedding with squares on of different shades of blue and green, it looks fab

Look at peacock colours, they go through blue to green
