Can anyone offer some recommendations? Looking to paint my daughters room a mid blue . Looking for a decent quality paint that's cheaper than f&b , any good experiences with other paint? I'm doing two walls.

F&B colour matched by Johnstones- their paint is great.

Little Greene make lovely colours similar to F&B

fastliving · 10/02/2020 23:10

I like Little Greene, but actually the own brand B&Q uses to mix any colour is my favourite....I just mix a sample colour myself usually and they scan it in, I think the Matt interior paint is pretty good.

Dulux trade diamond Matt. Low sheen and wipeable.

Most merchants have ‘recipe books’ to tint to whatever colour you want.

Little Greene Paint Company, the quality is fantastic, like painting with double cream. Also it's very hard-wearing in my experience.

I’ve weaned myself off F&B and now mostly use Dulux Light & Space and the Dulux heritage range. I usually pick a colour in the F&B swatch book and then try find the closest match in the Dulux paint cards- I’d definitely recommend it!

@fastliving Is that the valspar colour mixing you are talking about? I noticed my local b&q offers this and I was wondering if it was any good.
@iwonttaketheeasyroad, don't know if you've seen or if it's of any use but there is a 3 for 2 offer on colour emulsion on at b&q atm.

The colour match paint by decorating centre online is unbeatable - it looks identical.

icanhearapindrop · 11/02/2020 23:22

I’ve read a lot of negative comments on here about Valspar, but we have used it for our whole house, and think it’s brilliant!

fastliving · 12/02/2020 08:11

Yes Valspar.
I'm not an expert but I think it's pretty good, and you can get any colour/shade you want including taking in other paint companies swatches.

Most DIY companies will start special offers on paint pretty soon as we go into spring.

Fired earth paint is excellent, very strong pigment and wonderful colours, coverage is exceedingly good. I like it better than the F&B we have used before.

TheClitterati · 13/02/2020 19:32

I think it's worth spending more on F&B for bedroom paint as it's low in volitile compounds/ VOC.

Thank you all this is really helpful. I've used little greene before and really liked it . Will also check out the b&q and dulux options .

Craig and Rose.
I’m going to be using it soon. Lovely colours with that chalkyness. Mid price between F and Ball and Dulux. Meant to be better than F and B. Good things said about it if you search on here.
