Makeover for this tripod lamp?

Currently redecorating our living-dining room and am bored of this drab looking lamp! The walls are going to be dark and light grey - so I want to bring some splashes of colour to the room.

Can't decide what to do with the lamp - perhaps paint the wood black and change the shade to a teal, yellow or orange one?

I think I have that actual lamp! I changed the shade recently for a dark red one that matches my cushions.

It was always my plan to change the shade to something more bold but I never got around to it!

If your room is fairly plain then you could go for a really bold lampshade. I would probably get something else in the room to match the colour, such as a rug or cushions.

We already have some colourful cushions - yellow and orange, and I plan to get a few others in bright colours, maybe teal/blue and green. I just need to decide whether to paint the wooden bit black

Colours sound fab. I'm not sure I would bother painting the wooden bit. Why don't you get the new shade and cushions and see what it looks like.
