Is orla kiely “out” now and how much is too much ?

I have a lounge completely separated from the kitchen but if the doors open between the two you’d see the orla kiely curtains if that makes sense. I like them, they match the paint, they are staying. I was thinking of buying the matching rug to kinda pull the room together.
And then I got to thinking I might buy the blinds in the same stem pattern but a different colour for the kitchen ... is that too much ?

Yes

sevencontinents · 20/01/2020 22:13

2 out of 3 acceptable if matching is your thing - think your idea of the curtains and blinds could work well but the rug would be too much. I would pick a colour from the curtains and use that for the rug.
I wouldn't give 2 tosses about whether OK is out now - if you like it, do it!

fastliving · 21/01/2020 08:43

I think it would be too much to use it for blinds, curtains and rug.
I'd just pick one personally.

DillBaby · 21/01/2020 08:51

Orla Kiely in general is out. The only people who still have it are the types who think it’s pronounced Keeley.

Bluntness100 · 21/01/2020 08:53

Yes it's too much, pick s colour and go with that to blend in.

And yes that craze is pretty much over, but it does t matter if you like it. But it does feel like you'd have too much of it.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 21/01/2020 08:54

How do you pronounce it, out of interest?

Nomorechips · 21/01/2020 08:56

Yeah I'd like to know to please!

PootleandPosey · 21/01/2020 08:56

It’s Kylie iirc

CalamityJune · 21/01/2020 08:57

Blind, yes. Rug, no.

Youngatheart00 · 21/01/2020 08:59

I think she went bust?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 21/01/2020 09:43

Curtains and blinds fine, lose the rug.

Also, if you like them, it really doesn't matter whether they are "in" or not.

Inliverpool1 · 21/01/2020 10:07

I like the rug more than the blinds for the kitchen tbh.

I think I might go with Emma Bridgewater dots for the kitchen blinds instead. I know I’m about 10 years behind but I really don’t like all this industrial fashion stuff

No, don't do the dots either! Get on Pinterest for some inspiration

keepingbees · 28/01/2020 23:07

John Lewis have just brought out an Orla Kiely range so I wouldn't say it's out. Her prints are retro inspired anyway so they aren't meant to be height of current modern, just a distinctive style. If you love it go for it. If you've got Instagram search for Orla Kiely home and there's loads of ideas

WellHolyGodMiley · 28/01/2020 23:09

The furniture is lovely. Is that still made. I wouldnt go for blinds though.

Atalune · 28/01/2020 23:10

Might be too much.

What about having the curtains stay the same then a rug in complimentary colours that pulls it together.

Homes that look chic are not so matchy matchy.

MadamShazam · 31/01/2020 09:56

Seriously, who cares if Orla Keily is in or out?? If you like it, get it!!

Manchestermanchester · 01/02/2020 13:48

Do whatever you like. Your home, your money

TheCrowFromBelow · 01/02/2020 13:55

As above! Who cares what anyone else thinks if you like it?
