Hi there, this kitchen planning is driving nuts because I have an RSJ in the blinking way. Which design do you prefer please? The ovens will always be on the right but my issue is full cupboards (well kind of), shelf or squat cupboards. Confused

The one with the shelf

Junie70 · 20/01/2020 20:09

Cupboards. The shelf will just be a dust trap.

I've got open shelves in mine. Never again!!

I agree with cupboards. Kitchen dust tends to be greasy too. And you don't have to keep them too tidy either.

tenredthings · 20/01/2020 20:23

The third one with cupboards is best as the eye is drawn to the regular space above the sink rather than the irregularity of the ceiling.

Strawberrycake3 · 20/01/2020 21:39

@tenredthings the 3rd one has a slight shelf on the left as thats all theY could do. Do you think that looks ok? I’d rather they were all cupboards but they can’t do that. @Junie70 @Lweji I know what you mean about shelves, I was a little nervous when I saw it but the 3 one with the cupboards has a small shelf.

@ellelikespizza @Junie70 @Lweji @tenredthings should I right off number one entirely? Thank you all so much for your advice.

What's the height? The full cupboards look tidier, but it depends on how tall you are/the installation height as to how practical it is............ you don't want to be knocking yourself out on them Grin

Shelf

Lweji · 21/01/2020 00:30

Yes, I'd go for the full cupboards on the 3rd.

What would you put on the one shelf?
And the small cupboards look odd to me.

  1. Anything on the shelf will be covered in greasy dust and could look messy. Can you reach the top cupboards?
You can always use them for things you use only occasionally.
