Colour schemes to minimise brown

DH & I are shopping hobby rooms - he is getting my grey plain sewing room (with the spare bed) and I am getting his smaller BROWN gym with a secret staircase to attic storage - so basically another workroom!!!

I hate brown - the laminate is brown, the curtains are brown, 3 walls are beige and one dark brown

I can sort out the curtains no problem (see above where says sewing!!) Can't alter the floor (not much money as I'm getting a secret staircase to a boarded up attic)

Furniture is light oak

So ideally I only want to paint the dark brown wall - I prefer greens purples reds but which will make the beige look more neutral?

I have some fab olive (but more glowing than olive) green 'silk' curtains but I'm worried that will just look "green and beige"

Any suggestions

With all your sewing skill, could you find a patterned fabric that has a similar beige and brown in it but has some lovely other colours to inspire you. I cant quite picture the shade of beige or brown floor. But i lean towards red.

If I were you I would repaint all the walls white, not just the brown one. Presumably the laminate floor is just dark oak or something similar, which is definitely liveable with if everything else is lighter or brighter.

Maybe choose curtain colours in a teal / petrel blue colourway?

If the walls are white I'll have patterned curtains - I just hate painting almost as much as I hate brown

I'll have a look and see if they left the tin of paint for the beige and what it's called

The laminate is a sort of mid Oak and very livable with if the walls weren't chocolate and beige!!

Painting a whole room white is easier than one wall a colour as there is less cutting in.

You could paint that room in a day and never have to look at walls you don't like again.

But it's more paint tho'

The beige is toasted almond it's a bit pink I think

OK I checked in daylight - there are 2 dark brown walls and 2 Toasted Almond

I'm going to start with the dark brown and paint them white _ i imagine it will take 3 coats

Then I'm going to see how it looks with my curtains
